Game Story: Mill Woods Grizzlies

With perfect football weather, the Millwoods Grizzlies hosted the Spruce Grove Cougars Sunday afternoon. After strong defensive play by both sides throughout most of the 1st quarter Millwoods broke through the left side with a long run for a major.
The offense was worried by the constant pass rushing of the Cougars, however for the most part, our quarterback was able to get rid of the ball. The Grizzlies with outside speed and blocking were successful in running the ball on both sides. The inside run was in tough again this week as they faced an aggressive defensive line. A smart play call and good execution resulted in another touchdown in the second half.
The defense showed moments of strong field tackling and a number of long runs were stopped. A number of fumbles were caused by focused hits on the Cougar ball carriers. Great positional play resulted in an interception, however the officials called it back.
The improvement in special teams this week was great. Kicks were solid, positions found with ease and the receiving team controlled the ball well.
Improved team! Go Grizzlies!
