Game 1 Story
Game Story: Mill Woods Grizzlies
The Pee Wee Grizzlies were in tough Sunday afternoon against their fellow MMF team, the Maulers.
With the Maulers blitzing from the very first play, the offense protected their quarterback who went the entire game without a sack. Several good throws and key catches show the promise of the budding offense. A pressured throw resulted in an interception for the Maulers and a major score. A third down punt surprised the Maulers and gained valuable field position for our team. Our running game showed speed to the outside, while the experienced Maulers defensive line stalled our inside running game.
With their eye on the ball, the defense recovered 2 Mauler fumbles and strong effort resulted in a forced fumble and another recovery for the Grizzlies. The defensive core gained experience from the strong Maulers passing game. The Grizzlies shut down the Maulers inside run but struggled to contain the outside run. Special teams, both kick off and return, once positioned, played the ball very well.
With almost half of the Grizzlies playing in their first ever football game, the Millwoods Maulers bested them 22 – 0 in the premiere outing of the season. Well done!!
